Senior technical consultant
The senior technical consultant is a solution expert. They are the point of reference for one or more domains.
The senior technical consultant manages complex missions. They are responsible for the operational commitment, they supervise teams of technical experts and / or coordinate customer contacts. In the exercise of their functions, the senior technical consultant enjoys controlled freedom of action. They exercise control over the overall results of a project or mission. The framework of their reflection is linked to a multi-technological application scope in which global issues are generally identified. They can sometimes be complex and new. The senior technical consultant is responsible for achieving the objectives, which may require the use of known solutions, or, where appropriate, invention thereof. On the basis of the architectural constraints provided in the customer specifications (hardware, software, framework, software layers, development environments, standards, systems, networks, database, supervision tools …), the senior technical consultant:
- Analyses, develops and is responsible for the technical solution of a project.
- Identifies the commitments of the projects (performance, scalability, availability, ….) and is responsible for them throughout the project.
- Is involved in commercial processes (formalization of offers, pre-sales, bid writing, presentation for defence, etc.)
The positioning of the junior technical consultant:
The senior technical consultant is attached to the project manager, or to the technical or functional manager. They manage technical projects in close collaboration with the project manager. On missions at the customer, they manage strategic projects.
The expectations of the profession
The requirement of the problems requires anticipation, imagination and innovation. The level of responsibility is an encouragement to value teamwork and to contribute to the development of the consultants and more generally of the company.
Missions to our clients
"We carry out audit missions, to support customers; they are performed in pairs. The team consists of a functional consultant and a technical consultant. The objective of these audits is to target the problem. Audit meetings can take place over a day or several days depending on the case. Upstream of the audits we discuss and share with customers in order to list the (technical or functional) problems that they face. The goal is to retrieve the documents required for bugs to be resolved. If the customer faces functional problems, in this case it is the functional expert who will take care of the audit; if, on the other hand, the problem is technical issues, it is the technical expert who will take charge of the audit as well as the follow-ups. Subsequently, an audit report will be produced to report on the elements, which requires an improvement on the methodology, the parameter settings". Olivier, senior technical consultant
